The Law now requires ALL powered model aircraft, no matter how light, including power assist gliders of ANY weight to activate a fail safe system if the transmitter used has the facility (35 meg and “if” is the key word here - Ed). ALL current 2.4 sets can be set to a fail safe in the event the Tx fails.
The minimum is to set the throttle to OFF on electric powered models and tick over on I.C. engines when the Tx is switched off. Transmitters have always been (and still are) supplied with HOLD LAST POSITION. This has resulted in a death.
Because this is a CAA Law it can affect an individuals insurance cover should an accident occur.
So, check equipment and set FAIL SAFE position on your throttle to OFF in the event of a Tx failure.
