Barton Slope Site.
Only Slope Gliders or Electric assist Gliders to operate here.
After parking your vehicle take your model and radio equipment to the front without switching on. If using 35 meg equipment place peg on the frequency board but still check with any other flyers that your frequency is clear. If using 2.4 gHz, announce to others that you are on 2.4 (it stops panics).
The Flight Line at this site is the cliff edge. Please announce “Launching” and guide model out and away from the cliff edge.
There is to be no combat flying or intentional mid air dog fights.
When ready, observe the field and when clear call “Landing” and make an approach over the grass but land in the middle of field, not into other flyers or the model pound area.
Flying the houses or road is forbidden.
Fawcett’s Field.
This site is suited to Fixed Wing Electric Power Models, Elec Gliders and Helicopters.
Walk to the centre area before switching on your Tx.
There is to be no flying beyond the tree line adjacent to the car park or over the club house.
One word of caution! Another small group of flyers occasionally fly from the Gore Road end of this site. They park in The Manor pub, entry via Gore Road. They usually only fly afternoons and evenings. They are not necessarily C&DMFC members. (Reference to Ashley Fliers deleted - it is NOT an Ashley Fliers group - Ed)
Stanpit Recreation Ground.
C&DMFC fly this site exclusively, by licence with the Council. Members may fly electric helicopters, fixed wing electic power models and gliders.
Helicopters and fixed wing power must not be flown outside the recreation ground boundaries. Gliders may use a bungee for launch but at present must also not fly outside the recreation area boundaries.
There are two Bylaws – one for the recreation ground, the other for Stanpit Marsh. The BMFA are contesting the second Bylaw and the Chairman is representing the club. (The Christchurch Borough Sports Council agree that flying over the Marsh is acceptable with a Glider, but tbis has not yet been ratified).
REMEMBER. All sites are public areas and under the CAA 658, article 74 & 73 we have an obligation to avoid people, structures, roads and aircraft (paragliders are aircraft) at ALL times. Failing to do so is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE..
Safe Flying is no accident.
Terry Antell, Chairman.
