KNOWLE HILL

The ridge is pretty straight, and both the south and north faces are very flyable, although there are a few trees to avoid if you indulge in landing out on the North side. The grass landing area on the top is pretty generous, albeit somewhat hillocky. There is ample parking.

Access is up a track, (opposite the east end of the track to the SE slope) Sections of the track are deeply rutted so you need to drive on the grass to one side of the track to avoid bottoming out. At the moment the ground is firm and the grass offers plenty of traction so there is no problem. When things turn muddy and slippery though, it would offer a bit of a challenge. Also this is pasture land so churning up the grass would no doubt not be appreciated by the farmer.

The slope faces just slightly east of south so would not work in a true SW wind.

So, basically, a great site. Thanks again to Terry White for organising it for us.

the access gate is at SY931821 and we flew from somewhere near SY940824.
