Caused by a loose aileron hinge (Hewson Fault # 322), the model slowly drifted back to the only part of the shore where there were no reeds and was easily recovered with only a little paddling. The plane is now repaired and waiting for a re-maiden. Amazingly, after a minimal drying-out period, the only electronics that needed replacing were the battery and one of the SCs |

On its 99th flight, the Short Mussell settled gently into the top of this 15 - 20m tree (cause unknown, but it looked like either a loss of signal or a battery failure). A couple of weeks later it had settled further and was about 10m high: definitely accessible with Frank’s ladder and poles. A few days later when Frank and his ladder and poles arrived, the model was gone! A quick search revealed it had fallen from it’s perch to the ground. Amazingly (that word again) the only damage was to the rudder and an aileron servo arm. After a complete strip-down and some fettling, including a new rudder, she is now on her 101st flight.
