Hello Happy Members,

It’s been a VERY busy summer and we’ve seen over 20 members frequenting our slopes at regular intervals. Water flying has had a few field flyers trying their skills, too.

Multi-Copters are slowly finding their way into local aeromodelling. This appears to be the hobby/sport way of attracting younger people into membership and therefore safer operation of these flying machines. I see this as progress and in time these people will digress into other forms of the aerosport.

We are a multi-discipline club so should accept all types of our chosen activity. As I say, having members means we have some control over helping new interests with safety and education in mind.

Strawberry Field has recovered after the winter & spring wet weather. Our (your) new tractor/mower has transformed maintaining the patch. The cost was £3300, plus £40 for our onsite security of all equipment. We sold our old tractor/mower to the field owner for £200.

The Fun Comp and BBQ which was FREE flying and free food to celebrate our 50th anniversary was extremely well attended. Even the weather co-operated.

I’m sure Mike Roach will bring you up to date on water flying activities and the BIMBO scale weekend. I had to miss this as I was unwell, plus I had to transport Jean, my wife, between Specsavers and other health places. (still doing this, too.)

Having an iPhone has helped, allowing me to finish writing this Chairman’s Bit sitting in waiting rooms.

Happy landings.

Terry
