RESTORATION NOT REPAIR

Repair? Certainly not. Restoration is all the rage these days, taking after the full size habit of finding a WWII aircraft in 40m of fresh water, recovering it with the aid of divers and airbags then making a restored version of the heavily corroded and barnacled* wreck into a museum-ready piece of aviation artwork.

So it is with my depron Tigercat. A small misgudgement on its maiden reduced it to the component parts. Divers and airbags were not needed, but a small amount of foam was lost to the rubbish tip and a few pieces of new white depron and 20mm blue foam were needed to bring the restored model back to life. A repeat order of the decals from Callie Graphics will bring the aircraft back to where it was before the “incident”**. The Midnight Blue is Dulux to RAL number 5011. Flying weight is an ounce over 2lb, andabout 13 oz/sq ft wing loading on a 3s 1300 battery

*Barnacles? In fresh water??

**When I checked that everything was working in the restored model, the ailerons did indeed need reversing!
