The Grange School Event

by Terry Sullivan

Inclement weather plagued us all afternoon, so attendances were lower than I would have hoped, both in terms of visitors and club members. (I know several had prior engagements!) I think at one point Terry A had a chat with the Mayoress and her husband, and we did muster a very nice assortment of models, a peak of fifteen at one time. I should mention that not in the picture are the 2 models brought along later by Martin Burr, who came briefly before driving to London to see a sick relative. The 5m glider is the Jantar put my way a while back by Trevor, she is currently undergoing some TLC, but should be airworthy soon!

So it is likely that we will have made a good impression with some influential people, we should remember that as a result of Hordle last year we gained a flying site, although little use of it has been made to date! If any difficulties were to arise with Stanpit, for example, being known to participate in Community events is no bad thing! As for recruits, only one person seemed interested, I gave him a form. As yet I have had no contact from the winner of the Raffle prize of a lesson, but as the winner had left before the draw, he/she may not have received it yet!

So although the numbers of visitors were low, I feel the event was well worthwhile. I know the organisers were pleased with our display, as we have already been penned in for an invite next year! The only costs I incurred was about £4 for the tape round the cones, the weather kept the promised drinks in my cool box, where they will remain until Hordle. Only 1 was sold, and very tasty it was too!
