Rosebowl Thermal Glider Comp

Last year the Rose Bowl thermal glider comp wasn’t held. I was too busy tending to my wife, Jean.

As you know things have moved on since then and I’m running it again this year.

It’ll be on a field at Chalbury Farm, Horton, Dorset. The date is Sunday 24th June & I’d ask those entering to be there at 10am, please.

This will be for Electric assist Gliders as the days of using bungee launch or winches have now passed.

I attach a copy of the rules and I’m sure Mike (editor) has found room for them.

The field used is by the kind permission of Wessex Soaring Association who will also participate. Entry is F.O.C.

Rosebowl Rules 2018

Three one hour slots (time periods).

Launch within the hour and fly for 10 minutes exactly.

A height limiter should be used set to 30 seconds and/or 150 metres. Stop watch to start immediately the model is launched.

Those without a limiter may still enter. Time allowed without limiter to launch height will be at the C.D’s discretion, normally 30 second climb out, although time will be allowed to gain approx 150 metres.  The stop watch for those without a limiter starts when the motor is stopped.

For a bonus, land on the landing tape within 2 metres of the anchor point to gain 50 points.

Land within  2 to 5 metres to gain 25 points.

Scores in minutes, plus landing points added together.

Over fly the one hour slot and the stop watch stops, but NO landing bonus Just flight time.

Over fly the 10 minutes, within the 1 hour slot, and the seconds are deducted from the 600 maximum time score, plus add any landing points.

All landings must be in the field  being used.

A second flight may be taken within the 1 hour slot time. If taken this will be the score counted and the 1st score deleted.

A further two one hour rounds will then follow.

Please have a stop watch or count down timer.

Timer to enter results on the score sheet.
