"Of the three pics, the first one
may look familiar, the Balsa Craft Sea Fury that you were on
hand for to test with the Cobalt motor, previous motors having
been less than adequate. You may not recognise it as it was unpainted
when you flew it. |

The second pic is the RBC kits Spitfire,
Venti 600 HS motor and gearbox with an 11 x 7 prop and an undercarriage
added. Great take-off, frighteningly fast and a good glide (I
found out when the prop and spinner came off!). I felt I was
due some recognition as a "Spit Pilot", hence the "GWB"
on the side. |
The third pic is the Spit again with the
Balsacraft Hurricane, quite old now. Either you or Neil test
flew it for me at Stanpit years ago. I later took off the undercarriage
but then re-instated it. It has a 600 Race motor, direct drive
with a small folder prop and takes off very well, "stooging
around" nicely. I really like the look of these semi-scale
jobs in the air, perhaps the wheels spoil it a little for the
purist but they are worth it as landings are a lot better and
no underside damage, plus the fun of a proper take-off. I still
have the undamaged Balsacraft Spitfire which one of you test
flew at Stanpit, but it is in semi-retirement for now and graces
the work-room wall." |
