Sloping Off - June 2004

Editorial
by Mike Roach

Somewhat foolishly, you might think, and under the influence of Trevor's fine wine and cigars, I agreed to produce this issue of Sloping Off.  Hence, it's the "Back Issue" and it's just while he's recovering from a  "microdiscectomy"....Don't ask.  I've seen the Xrays and as my back is none too good either, I quickly spotted the faulty glue joint that has made T's life so difficult over the years.  Still, a bolus of cyano, microballoons and some talcum powder and he'll be as good as new, badgering Mary to let him play with his Shock Flier in the garden.

But before I left, T produced a parchment, signed in my own blood, witnessed by "Nurse Sally" in which I agreed to take on the newsletter as a permanent task.  My memory is hazy on that bit of the party in the Nuffield Hospital, but I tell you, these private patients are well looked after!

So help me out guys; I need some articles, photographs, memories, cartoons, building notes, reviews, whatever you like, to grace these pages.  Anything to do with aeroplanes, anything at all, or else, and this is a promise, I'll give you all 22 episodes of  the history of the Sopwith Tabloid, 1913 - 1996 (including the replicas , floatplanes and national variations).  I'm serious.

By the way: we are still trying to sort out the best way of putting the Microsoft Publisher version onto the Web (help, anyone?).
