We have been rather lucky with the weather in the last three months during which there was a lot of flying including the initial helicopter day at Oldfield. This seemed to go well. As well as the flying there was the stone picking, yet to be completed, and the making of the levelled foundation for the shed.

The committee has approved the purchase of a secure metal shed for our mower and BBQ plus any other sundry items. I was in favour of a shipping container which I felt was more secure and more like a farmers item but three things stopped this. Containers are in short supply, they are the same price as the secure shed and the real killer was that it would be nearly impossible to have it delivered to its final resting place as the truckers were unhappy about our access. The shed comes in knocked down form and the manufacturer erects it in situ.

We have only recently been able to restart flying at the Longham lakes due them being shut because of bird flu. I am unclear as to how much slope soaring has been going on but I am sure that it will have been. Very hardy bunch are our regular slope soarers! Indoor flying has been happening but other than Martin Delaney no new Hellfire models have appeared – Martin Burr also has flown his new one but he already had an old one as well. Thanks to Martin Lucas for organising a bulk buy.

The club is attracting a fair number of new members – a big welcome to all of them. At the last count we had 99 paid up members which is really quite healthy.

Finally a big thank you to Alex Bush who has organised a lot of working parties at Oldfield as well as making significant funds from the Bits Box.
