What a year! We started out in different kinds of lockdown during which I seemed to spend my time studying Government and BMFA Websites to determine what rules applied to our activity.

It eventually eased and good flying was had at all our sites. In the fall I was notified by our landlord at Strawberry Field that he was handing the management of it to his two sons. They slowly but surely caused us more and more restrictions because they said they could get more money for other activities. Finally, they said we would have to change from paying £2 per day per person to a totally unaffordable sum or we would have no priority of use of the field. This we could not agree to and a period of considerable worry to the committee ensued.

Completely out of the blue Guy Montrose announced that he had found an alternative field – Oldfield. This has turned out to be a fabulous site with a landlord who is most welcoming.

The club is progressing well with plenty of flying at all sites. The current weather is not, however, very encouraging. Roll on the spring when our new grass at Oldfield will hopefully be sufficiently mature to allow us to use our own patch.

Next year will bring many activities, both flying and social.

May I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
